Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5 on June 30, 2026, with introductory API pricing of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens through August 31, 2026, after which pricing moves to $3/$15.
Anthropic describes Sonnet 5 as its most agentic Sonnet yet, with capability approaching Opus 4.8 at a lower cost. That comparison is vendor-reported, so you should benchmark the model on your own workloads before relying on it in production.
On claude.ai, Sonnet 5 is now the default model for Free and Pro plans, and it is available through the Claude API, Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry. If you plan to build on it, factor the August 31 pricing change into your budget.
