Israel's National AI Director: Hopes to Attract TSMC or Samsung to Build 2nm Wafer Fab in Israel
Israel's National AI Director Erez Askal is lobbying TSMC, Samsung Foundry, and Intel Foundry, hoping one of them will build a wafer fab for 2nm or more advanced logic chips in the country. He plans to establish a data center cluster with 100,000 GPUs in Israel within the next five years. Currently, Intel operates the Intel 7 wafer fab Fab 28 in Israel, but the planned new Fab 38 construction was frozen in 2024 due to poor financial performance.
